If you didn’t notice, yesterday the U.S. Supreme Court championed corporate rights over individual rights yet again. http://www.npr.org/2014/06/30/327064710/high-court-allows-some-companies-to-opt-out-contraceptives-mandate
I am just so angry. Angrier than I’ve been in a long time. Frustrated and disgusted. Yet another slippery slope to teeter on the edge on, when American society is already precariously balanced.
And the truth is, if our government hadn’t sold the nation out to the private health insurance companies when they were busy overhauling the health care system, if they had actually done the smart solution and looked at the top 3 healthiest and well-run health care systems in the world and modeled our system off of those systems, then this case would never have had to be brought before the Supreme Court in the first place.
As an aside, what is it about women controlling their own bodies that freaks out old white men so much? I really don’t get it. Especially when, from a strictly cold and monetary point of view, it is FAR cheaper to provide women with any and all birth control that is safe for them to have than to raise multiple people on welfare. So, what’s the deal? Afraid of our female magic that will be able to shrivel penises? I don’t have the time to waste on that kind of crap.
