Half a Life – a poem

The half life of
Plutonium
Is over 24,000 years
But is nothing compared
To how long it feels
That we’ve been
Apart.

A neutron star,
While relatively small,
Masses up to three times
Our sun,
Yet the weight I feel
In my heart
Sits heavier still.

A compass
Always finds
True North,
And, like a magnet,
My soul longs to fly
The distance
To you.

All this to simply say
‘I miss you’.
